Color-Matched Paintings for Your Scheme

Send us a paint code, a paint chip, a fabric swatch, a rug, a tile or a Pantone reference, and our studio mixes that color by hand. Before any painting begins, we photograph the mixed paint under daylight and send you the photo to approve. Then we paint your canvas in oil or acrylic, in any size, and we can recolor any of our 286 catalog designs to your palette.

Who asks for a painting in their own colors

There is no minimum order. Individuals and trade buyers use the same quote form, and WhatsApp replies are usually immediate; email replies usually arrive within 12 hours.

How color matching works in our studio

The approval step in the middle is what makes this work.

1. You send the reference. A paint code with a chip photo, a fabric or rug swatch, a tile, a Pantone number, or a hex code as a starting point. Tell us which colors matter most.
2. We mix the color. Our painters mix each matched color by hand in the medium you chose, oil or acrylic.
3. We photograph the mixed paint under daylight. You see the actual paint in natural light, not a digital swatch.
4. You approve or ask for a shift. Warmer, cooler, lighter, deeper. We adjust and send a new photo. Painting does not start until you say yes.
5. We paint the canvas. Progress photos are sent during painting on commissions.
6. We photograph the finished canvas. Nothing leaves the studio until you approve the finished photos.

What to send us

• A paint code plus a chip photo. Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Farrow and Ball or any other brand. The code tells us the family. The chip, photographed in daylight, tells us the real color.
• A fabric or rug swatch. Photograph it flat, in daylight, with no lamp on. If it has several colors, tell us which one to pick up.
• A tile. One photo straight on and one at an angle, so we can see the glaze.
• A Pantone reference. Give us the number. Pantone is a trademark of Pantone LLC and we use it only as your reference system.
• A hex code or a screenshot. Fine as a starting point. We will still ask for a daylight photo of something real when you have one.

A good reference photo is taken near a window during the day, with all lamps off and the item filling most of the frame. A plain white sheet of paper in the shot gives us a fixed point for judging the tint of your light.

Why the color on your screen is not the color on your wall

A screen makes color by emitting light. Paint makes color by reflecting light. The same hex code looks different on a phone, a laptop and a monitor, and none of them is your wall.

Paint also has undertones. Two grays can look alike on a chip and split apart on a wall because one leans blue and the other green. Sheen matters too, and room light shifts everything: warm evening bulbs push toward yellow, north light cools things down. That is why we approve on a daylight photo of real paint rather than on a number.

Should the painting match the wall exactly? Usually not. A painting that repeats the wall color disappears into it. Most rooms look best when the painting repeats one or two colors already in the room, the sofa or the rug, and adds one color that is new. We are happy to suggest which colors to pull when you send your photos.

Oil or acrylic for a matched palette

You choose the medium. Both oil and acrylic are available for color-matched work. One painter takes a canvas from start to finish, and you can read how we paint before you decide.

Oil dries slowly, so the color you see wet stays close to the color you get dry, and the surface has a soft depth. Oil has to dry between layers, so heavy texture and large canvases sit at the top of their production band.

Acrylic dries fast and tends to dry a shade darker than it looks wet. Our painters allow for that when mixing, and the daylight photo shows the paint as it will read once dry. Recolor any of our 286 catalog designs

Pick any catalog design and tell us what to change. We can swap one color, replace the whole palette, resize the canvas or add an element. Recoloring a catalog design is quoted at the same rate as a standard custom order.

The easiest designs to recolor are abstracts, color-block pieces and textured neutrals, because the color is the subject. Start with the pure abstract collection. Landscapes and florals can be shifted too, a cooler sky or a blush instead of a coral, as long as the change still makes sense in the picture.

We recolor only our own catalog designs and artwork you own. We do not copy other companies’ designs or the work of living artists. To have your own artwork or file painted, see paint your design.

One palette across a whole series

Hotels, offices and staging companies often need one palette across many pieces in different designs. We paint the set as one job. The palette is approved once on the daylight photo and every piece is painted against that same approved reference.

Mixed designs count together for trade pricing. Twelve different designs in one palette for one project count as a 12-piece order, so they reach the 6-piece break. The rate improves again at 21 pieces. To see what we need from you before a number can be accurate, read how we quote.

Production follows the total count. A 12-piece series falls in the 10 to 15 business day band. Orders of 21 to 50 pieces take 15 to 20 business days, and 51 to 100 take 20 to 30. Pieces 36 by 48 inches and larger, heavy texture and multi-panel sets sit at the top of their band.

Is a color-matched painting right for you

Good fit

• You have a real reference: a chip, a swatch, a rug, a tile or a Pantone number.
• You need several pieces that share one palette for a project.
• You like a catalog design but one color is wrong for your space.

Not a fit

• You need a laboratory-exact match certified by an instrument. Hand-mixed paint approved by eye is what we offer.
• You want us to copy another company’s design or a living artist’s work in your colors.
• You need a printed canvas. Everything we make is painted by hand.

Approval, samples, fixes and delivery

You approve twice: once on the daylight swatch photo before painting, and once on photos of the finished canvas before it leaves the studio. If a piece has a defect that is our fault, including a color that does not match the swatch photo you approved, we repaint it at our cost.

Finishes are rolled, stretched on solid wood bars, or framed in black, white, wood, silver or gold, all five at the same price. Payment is usually a 50 percent deposit, balance before release. Full terms are on our trade page.
