Extra large paintings from PaletteMomento are painted by hand, to order, to the exact measurements of your wall. Our studio in Dafen Art Village, Shenzhen, paints in oil or acrylic on canvas, and you choose which. Nothing is printed. We have 60 standard sizes from 24 by 20 inches up to 80 by 60 inches, plus sets of two and three panels. Any other size is painted to your measurements at the same rate. A single canvas larger than 80 by 60 inches is quoted case by case. There is no minimum order, and nothing ships until you approve photos of the finished canvas.
The short version, for anyone planning a big wall
Most sites that sell “extra large wall art” sell canvas prints, and most sites that paint to order stop around 48 by 72 inches. We do neither. Canvas is premium linen, and stretched pieces sit on solid wood bars. Finishes are rolled in a tube, stretched, or framed in black, white, wood, silver or gold, and all five frame colors cost the same.

What size painting for what wall
The most common question we get is about proportion, not paint. A good rule for art above furniture is the two-thirds rule: the painting should be about two-thirds the width of the piece under it. On an open wall it can fill more. A very tall wall wants a tall painting, not a wide one.
Above a 10 foot sectional
Two-thirds of 10 feet is about 80 inches. Our 80 by 60 inch size does this in one canvas. Two or three panels adding up to about 80 inches wide, gaps included, do the same job and are easier to carry in.
Double height great room
A two story wall needs height more than width. Hang our 80 by 60 inch size vertically, or ask for a taller custom size. Keep the center near eye level from where people sit, not halfway up the wall.
Stairwell
A tall vertical canvas, or panels stepping up with the stairs, works best. Panels also make it around the landing, which a single stretched canvas often will not.
Hotel lobby or reception
Lobby art is seen from across the room, so go bigger than feels safe on paper. One canvas beyond 80 by 60 inches is quoted case by case, or we split it across panels.
Wall over 12 feet wide
Two-thirds of 12 feet is about 96 inches, beyond our largest standard size. We either quote one larger canvas case by case or paint a triptych to your measurements.
One canvas or several panels
On a huge wall, both look good. A single canvas gives you one unbroken image, and anything up to 80 by 60 inches is a standard order. The choice usually comes down to getting the painting into the room.
When a diptych or triptych is better
A stretched canvas is carried on its edge, so its shorter side has to clear every doorway, and the whole thing has to turn the corner on a stairwell landing or fit inside an elevator. When it will not, we split the composition. Two or three panels each pass through a normal door and ship in smaller boxes, which costs less. Hung with a small gap, the eye reads them as one painting.

Will a big stretched canvas warp or sag?
Stretched pieces sit on solid wood stretcher bars. A canvas this size is a taut fabric on a wood frame, so it needs the same care as any large painting. Hang it on a dry interior wall, away from radiators, air conditioning vents and long hours of direct sun. If it ever loosens after years on the wall, any framer can re-tension it. Ask about bracing for your dimensions when you request a quote.
Texture at scale
Heavy texture works very well on a big wall. Thick palette-knife ridges catch light from windows and lamps, so the surface changes through the day. From 20 feet away in a lobby, the texture reads as movement and depth even when the color is quiet. See our textured paintings page.
Two things change when texture gets big. First, heavy texture ships stretched or framed. We do not recommend rolling thick impasto, because the ridges can crack when the canvas bends around a tube. Second, it takes longer. Pieces 36 by 48 inches and larger, heavy texture and multi-panel sets sit at the top of their production band because thick paint has to dry between layers, and oil takes longer still. Color and design made for your room
You do not have to start from a blank page. We can resize any of our 286 catalog designs to your wall and recolor it to your room. Send a paint code or a fabric sample and we match the color, then send a photo of the mixed color under daylight for approval before painting starts. See color-matched paintings.
You can also send your own design: a photo, a render, a digital file, an AI-generated image or a mood board, and we can combine several images into one composition. If a render contains someone else’s copyrighted artwork, we paint an original in that spirit rather than copying it. Shipping an extra large painting
Our delivery terms are EXW our Shenzhen studio. Freight is quoted separately, at cost, and we do not add to it. Express by FedEx or DHL takes 5 to 10 business days. Air freight and sea freight are available, and sea takes 25 to 40 days. CIF and DDP are available on request.
- Rolled in a tube. Ships unstretched, and a framer near you stretches it. Rolled canvas is the cheapest way to ship, especially for orders over about 20 pieces, and a tube fits through any door. Not for heavy texture.
- Stretched. Arrives on its bars, ready to hang, in protective packing. Best for smooth and medium-texture work at sizes that clear your doors.
- Wooden crate. Framed pieces, heavy texture and very large stretched canvases go in a wooden crate. We confirm the crate count with you before transport is booked.
Under EXW, transit risk sits with the carrier and your freight insurance. If we arrange the freight, we help with the claim. Paintings executed entirely by hand fall under HTS 9701, which has a free base rate of duty into the United States. Other China-origin measures can apply, so confirm with a customs broker. Before you order a stretched or crated piece, measure the narrowest door, the stairwell turn and the elevator on the way to the wall. If any of them is tight, order rolled or split into panels.
Timeline and approval
Production is 7 to 10 business days for 1 to 5 pieces and 10 to 15 business days for 6 to 20 pieces. Oversized pieces, heavy texture and multi-panel sets sit at the top of their band.
We photograph every finished canvas and send you the photos. Nothing leaves the studio until you approve. For commissions we send progress photos during painting, so you can adjust a color or a shape before it is finished. If a piece has a defect that is our fault, we repaint it at our cost.
For designers, stagers and hospitality buyers
There is no minimum order. Trade pricing starts from one piece, improves at 6 pieces and again at 21, and mixed designs count together. For a first order or a large project we paint a sample, and the sample cost is credited back on any order of 10 pieces or more. Payment is usually a 50 percent deposit with the balance before the goods are released.
Good fit
A wall over 8 feet wide or two stories tall that needs one statement piece. A sectional or reception desk that needs art scaled to it. A project where the color must match a paint code or a fabric. Anyone who wants a real painting, not a print, at a size print shops call oversized.
Not a fit
You need it on the wall in under two weeks. You want heavy texture shipped rolled. You need a firm freight price before you know the size and finish. You want a copy of a living artist’s work.
