A real client commission
Textured Floral Bouquet Painting: Colorful Blooms Against a Purple Background
The client commissioned us to paint this colorful floral bouquet, bringing together pink roses, yellow and purple flowers, and bright blue petals. The commissioned canvas measures 80 inches wide × 80 inches high. We developed the flowers and their surrounding color before framing the canvas. The photographs show the bouquet against blue and purple backgrounds, followed by its framed presentation, with close details revealing the raised strokes that shape the petals.

Petals that curl through the paint
The large pink roses draw the eye first. Their concentric strokes sit beside open yellow blooms, purple petals and smaller blue flowers. Dark green leaves separate the brightest areas.
The background remains visible between the stems and around the bouquet, tying the individual flowers into one composition.
The bouquet against a blue ground
In the earlier retained photograph, the flowers are already richly developed. Raised pink and white strokes describe the large rose on the left, while the yellow rose below it is built from curling bands of color.
Blue surrounds much of the bouquet. Along the bottom, vertical pink, orange, dark blue and black passages give the vase area a looser, more abstract treatment.
A purple background around the same flowers
The second view records a clear change around the bouquet: purple fills the open areas above, beside and below the flowers. The main arrangement of blooms remains recognizable.
The purple sits close in color to some of the petals, while the yellow and orange flowers stand out against it. This is a useful way to see how the background affects the whole painting, even when the central subject stays much the same.
Three flowers, three different kinds of painted edge
These close views are taken from the purple-background photograph. The roses build inward through curved strokes, while the open yellow and purple flowers spread outward in broader petals. Small ridges and touches of contrasting color remain visible along their edges.
Curved strokes build the flower around its center.
Open petals spread outward in broad painted marks.
Light and dark paint give neighboring petals definition.
Bringing the bouquet into a frame
The retained framing photograph shows a slim dark edge around the painting, with protective pieces at the corners. The border gives the lively arrangement a clear outer boundary.
It is a compact record of the framed presentation. The larger photographs above offer the closer view of the actual paint and its raised petals.
