AI Image to Hand-Painted Painting

Yes, we paint AI-generated images by hand. Send the file you made in Midjourney, DALL-E, ChatGPT, Stable Diffusion or any other generator, and our studio in Dafen Art Village, Shenzhen, paints it in oil or acrylic on canvas. It is never printed. Any size, no minimum order, and we fix the odd hands and garbled text before the first brushstroke.

A painting, not a print of your render

You send an AI image. A painter looks at it, mixes the colors, and rebuilds the picture stroke by stroke on premium linen canvas. Nothing is printed on the canvas first. Nothing is traced by machine. The painter builds the image in brushstrokes.

This matters more for AI art than for a photo. A render glows on a screen, but printed on canvas it often looks flat, because a print copies every pixel, including the plastic smoothness. A hand-painted version turns that smoothness into paint texture, edges and mixed color.

You choose oil or acrylic. Both are available for AI-sourced work. Oil gives softer blends. Acrylic holds sharp, flat color.

Rights check first: what you confirm and what we refuse

We only paint images you have the right to use. Before we quote, we ask you to confirm three things.

• You made the image, or you have a license to use it. Some free or trial plans give the image a non-commercial license only. Check your generator’s terms and tell us which plan you used.
• It contains no copyrighted characters, brand mascots or logos. A famous cartoon character is not yours to use, even if the generator made it.
• It is not presented as the style of a named living or recently deceased artist. We do not paint “in the style of” a working artist, and we do not copy other companies’ designs. It is the same rule as our reproductions, which cover only public domain works.

We also decline celebrity likenesses. In the United States, the Copyright Office has said purely AI-generated images are not protected by copyright. So we do not tell you that you will own copyright in the finished painting. You get the physical painting, made for you by hand. If you plan to resell it or hang it in a business, read your generator’s terms first.

Fixing the image before we paint

AI images have famous problems. Six fingers. A face that melts on one side. Sign text that is almost letters. A painter does not have to copy any of this. We can add or remove elements, correct shapes and recolor areas before painting. In the quote reply we list the changes we plan to make, so the fix list is agreed before you pay a deposit.

Resolution: why 1024 pixels is workable for a painter

Printers need pixels. Painters need shapes and colors. A painter needs to see where the edges are, what the colors are, and how the light falls. A native 1024 by 1024 pixel export shows all of that. The painter is not scaling pixels. The painter makes new marks at full size, and each mark is as sharp as a brush.

Resolution does matter for small detail. If a face is 60 pixels wide in your file, the painter will interpret the rest. If that face is the whole point, upscale the file first, or generate a closer crop of the face and send both. Any upscaler that gives a cleaner view is fine. Send the largest, cleanest version you have, and we tell you in the quote reply if we need more.

Square to rectangle without losing the good part

Most generators default to a square 1:1 image. Most walls want a rectangle. You have three choices.

1. Keep it square. Any square size, such as 40 by 40 inches, is painted to your measurements at the same rate as our standard sizes.
2. Crop. We crop your image to a standard size such as 36 by 48 inches, and we tell you where the crop falls before painting starts.
3. Extend by hand. Want a wide 60 by 40 inch canvas from a square image? The painter continues the sky, wall or field on both sides in the same colors and strokes. Nothing in the original is cut off.

All 60 standard sizes run from 24 by 20 inches up to 80 by 60 inches, plus sets of two and three. Larger single canvases are quoted case by case. For very big walls, see extra-large paintings.

What the painter keeps, and what changes

How much of the AI look survives? The composition and the colors survive. The digital surface does not. That is the point.

• Glow and neon. Screens are backlit. Paint is not. A painter gets glow by placing the brightest, cleanest color next to a darker, duller one. Neon pink on a dark ground still reads as neon, but it is pigment, not light. For an extreme color, ask for color matching. We mix the color, photograph it under daylight, and send that photo for your approval before painting.
• Smooth gradients. An AI sky fades in perfect steps. In oil the fade is blended by hand and has a soft, slightly uneven life. Our sunrise and sunset collection shows what a painted sky looks like at full size.
• Fake texture. Renders that imitate an impasto look can be painted as real impasto, thick enough to cast a shadow. Heavy texture ships stretched or framed, not rolled.

Good fit, not a fit

Timeline, approval and what you receive

Production is 7 to 10 business days for 1 to 5 pieces and 10 to 15 business days for 6 to 20 pieces. Pieces 36 by 48 inches and larger, and heavy texture, sit at the top of their band because thick paint has to dry between layers, and oil takes longer still.

1. Send the file through the quote form with the size, medium, finish, and any fixes you want. WhatsApp replies are usually immediate; email replies usually arrive within 12 hours, with a quote, a timeline and the fix list.
2. Deposit. Usually 50 percent to start, by wire transfer, PayPal or card. Terms are confirmed on the invoice.
3. Progress photos during painting.
4. Finished photos. We photograph the finished canvas and send the photos. Nothing leaves the studio until you approve.
5. Balance and release. You pay the balance and the piece is released.

If a piece has a defect that is our fault, we repaint it at our cost. For a first order or a large project we can paint a sample first. The sample cost is credited back on any order of 10 pieces or more.

Finishes, shipping and payment

Choose rolled in a tube, stretched on solid wood bars, or framed in black, white, wood, silver or gold. All five frame colors cost the same. Rolled canvas is the cheapest way to ship more than about 20 pieces.

Delivery is EXW our Shenzhen studio. Freight is quoted separately at cost, and we do not add to it. Express by FedEx or DHL takes 5 to 10 business days. Sea freight takes 25 to 40 days. Paintings executed entirely by hand fall under HTS 9701, a free base rate of duty into the United States. Other China-origin measures can apply, so confirm with a customs broker.
