If your own scheme uses contrasting finishes, “match the room” leaves too much undecided. A warm accent in the painting might answer the timber, the metal or a textile. Mark the artwork itself and provide a clean version of that image. If the render is your only source, say which shadows and highlights belong to the artwork and which belong to the room. A photograph of the fabric or finish in daylight helps explain the surrounding palette. A colour code can support that reference, but paint, fabric and a backlit screen will not behave identically. Keep the approved composition, but tell us which fine details need to read nearby and which larger forms must remain clear at a distance. A flat digital image can communicate the composition, but it cannot show the way brushwork catches light. For a painting that sits beside smooth joinery or glossy finishes, surface quality may be as important as its subject. Specify whether you want restrained brush marks, broader movement or a more pronounced texture, using a detail reference where possible.

Once that direction is agreed, label the approved image and its finish references as a single version. If a textile changes later, tell us before asking for final approval: a room change may call for a deliberate painting revision.
