Hand-Painted Art for Moroccan Homes, Riads, Hotels and Restaurants

We hand-paint canvases for Moroccan style homes, riads, boutique hotels and Moroccan restaurants. Zellige inspired geometry, riad courtyards, Chefchaouen blue, Sahara dunes, the Atlas mountains and Amazigh inspired pattern, in terracotta, saffron, cream and deep blue. Every canvas is painted by hand to order in our studio in Dafen Art Village, Shenzhen. We never print. There is no minimum order, any size can be painted, and we send you photos of the finished canvas before it ships.

What a Moroccan room asks of art

Most Moroccan and North African rooms sit on warm neutral walls: warm white, soft terracotta or sandy beige. Color arrives through rugs, cushions, tile and lanterns. Seating is low and long. Walls are often finished in tadelakt or lime wash, so the surface has a soft grain and a quiet shine.

Two things follow. The art needs texture, because a flat printed panel on a hand finished wall reads like a sticker, while a painting with real relief reads as craft. And it should hold one idea rather than compete with the tile. Geometry, a landscape or a calm field of color sits better above a low banquette than a busy scene.

Terracotta, saffron and one note of blue

The palette that works hardest here is terracotta, rust, ochre, saffron, cream and sand, with one strong blue as the accent. That blue can be a clean cobalt, or the deep violet blue people connect with the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech. We can mix that color. We have no connection to the garden and do not use its name.

Color matching is the part buyers underuse. Send a paint code, a photo of your zellige tile, or a piece of fabric. We mix the color, put it on canvas, photograph it in daylight and send you that photo, and you approve it before we start. Textured and plaster paintings for lime washed walls

Our textured and plaster work is painted with real relief. The paint stands off the canvas, so the piece throws small shadows and changes as the daylight moves. Heavy texture ships stretched on solid wood bars or framed, because rolling thick impasto into a tube is not recommended. On a big order where rolled canvas keeps freight low, keep the heavy texture for the few pieces that carry the room. See textured paintings.

Sizing for salons, riads and guest rooms

We paint 60 standard sizes, from 24 by 20 inches up to 80 by 60 inches, plus sets of two and three. Any other size is painted to your measurements at the same rate, so ask for the true panorama rather than a size that nearly fits. A single canvas larger than that is quoted case by case.

• Above a long banquette, a panorama or a set of three beats one square canvas. Cover about two thirds of the seating width.
• Flanking an arch, a matched pair of tall canvases echoes the shape without fighting it.
• For guest rooms, one motif in different colorways makes rooms feel related, not identical.
• For a tall salon wall, one oversized canvas holds the height better than a grid. See extra large paintings.

Respect, originality and religious text

• We do not paint Quranic verses or the names of God. Religious text is not decor and should not sit where it can be damaged. For a secular Arabic word or an abstract letterform, ask first. We take it on only when a trained hand is free.
• We do not paint the King, the flag, or anything with an official or political meaning.
• Amazigh symbol meanings change by region, family and period. We use the lozenge, zigzag and comb forms as inspiration for rhythm and shape, not as translated meaning, and never copy a weaver’s rug.
• Zellige geometry is a traditional craft language owned by nobody, so we paint in that spirit freely. We still do not copy a tile brand’s pattern.
• Many homes, and any room used for prayer, prefer art without figures, so we lead with geometry, landscape and texture. We paint figures when you ask.
• For old master reproductions we work only from public domain art: the artist died over 70 years ago and the work was published before 1931.

For riads, boutique hotels and Moroccan restaurants

There is no minimum order. Trade pricing starts at one piece, improves at 6 and again at 21, and mixed designs count together, so a riad ordering a different painting for each of 14 rooms gets one combined rate. On a large project we paint a sample, credited back on orders of 10 pieces or more. Nothing leaves the studio until you approve the photos. Getting the paintings to Marrakech, Casablanca or your own city

We sell EXW from our Shenzhen studio and quote freight separately at cost, with nothing added. Express by FedEx or DHL takes 5 to 10 business days and suits small sets. Sea freight takes 25 to 40 days and suits large fit outs planned months ahead. Air freight sits between them, and CIF and DDP are on request. Packing is a tube, stretched canvases, framed pieces or a crate, and we confirm the crate count before booking transport.

Paintings executed entirely by hand fall under HTS 9701, which carries a free base rate of duty into the United States, though other measures on China origin goods can apply. Import charges into Morocco, including VAT on the landed value, should be confirmed with a Moroccan customs broker before you order, and we give your broker the invoice detail, HS heading and packing list. The catalog is a starting point, not a limit. Most Moroccan projects end up painted from what the buyer sends: a doorway in the medina, a rug you own, a Pinterest board, a designer’s render, an AI image you cannot hang, a paint chip and a tile.

2. We reply WhatsApp replies are usually immediate; email replies usually arrive within 12 hours.
3. Color proof Matching a tile or paint code, we mix the color and send a daylight photo to approve.
4. Sample On a large project we paint one piece first, credited back on orders of 10 or more.
5. Painting We paint the set, with progress photos on commissions.
6. Approve, then ship You see photos of every canvas. Nothing ships until you say yes.
