Hand-Painted Reproductions of Public Domain Masterpieces

We hand-paint reproductions of public domain masterpieces to order, at any size, in our studio in Dafen Art Village, Longgang District, Shenzhen. Every piece is painted with a brush and a knife in acrylic or oil on canvas. Nothing is printed. Our reproductions are unsigned. There is no minimum order, production takes 7 to 10 business days for 1 to 5 pieces, and an email quote usually arrives within 12 hours; WhatsApp is the fastest way to contact us.

Our public domain rule, in plain words

Copyright in a painting lasts for the artist’s life plus 70 years in the European Union and the United Kingdom. In the United States, everything published before 1931 is in the public domain. We apply both tests, so a work qualifies only when the artist died more than 70 years ago and the work was published before 1931. That covers the old masters, the Impressionists, most of Art Nouveau and the early modern period.

What we will not paint: work by living artists, work by artists who died recently, and other companies’ designs. If you love a contemporary piece, we can paint an original composition that borrows its mood and palette rather than copying it. That is a different commission, and we say so on the quote.

How close to the original

Our painters work from high-resolution museum images and match four things: the composition, the palette, the brushwork direction, and the surface. Where an original carries thick impasto, so does the copy. Where an original is built from thin glazes, we layer thin glazes.

What will differ, honestly. Aged varnish has shifted the color of many originals, so tell us whether you want the painting as it looks today in the museum or as it likely looked when it was fresh, and we will discuss what is possible. Craquelure, the fine cracking of old paint, is not reproduced unless you ask about it. And a hand-painted copy is a new painting by a different hand, so it carries small differences everywhere. That is what makes it a painting rather than a photograph of one.

If the work you want is not listed, ask. Anything that passes the public domain rule can be painted, and we tell you plainly if a work does not qualify.

Sets for hotels, restaurants and period interiors

A set of four Dutch still lifes for a dining room, six Impressionist landscapes for a corridor, or one large Water Lilies for a lobby. Trade pricing starts at one piece and improves at 6 pieces and again at 21, and mixed designs count together. For larger projects we paint a sample first, and the sample cost is credited back on any order of 10 pieces or more. See art for hotels, art for restaurants or art for interior designers.

Designers restoring a period property often need a specific size to fit an existing frame or a paneled alcove. Send the opening size and we paint to it.

How to order

1. Tell us the work and the size Name the painting or send an image, plus the finished size you need and the finish you want.
2. Email Quote: Usually Within 12 Hours Per piece, EXW our Shenzhen studio, with freight quoted separately at cost.
3. Deposit Usually 50 percent to start. The balance is due before the goods are released for collection.
4. Painting 7 to 10 business days for 1 to 5 pieces. Thick impasto and very large canvases sit at the top of the band.
5. Approval photos Daylight photos of the finished canvas. Ask for adjustments then and we make them before release.
6. Shipping Rolled by express courier in 5 to 10 business days, or stretched and crated by sea in 25 to 40 days. Hand-painted paintings fall under HTS 9701, which has a free base rate of duty into the United States, though other China-origin measures can apply. Confirm with your customs broker.
